Yoga counteracts this effectively because it has a stress-reducing effect. Through yoga practice, the parasympathetic nervous system is specifically activated, which in our autonomic nervous system acts as the "rest nerve." As a result, heartbeat, breathing, muscle tension, and our mind slow down. The outcome: deceleration and relaxation combined with muscle strengthening.
